Subject: North and East Hampshire Country Watch Weekly




On Tuesday 23rd October 2012 Country Watch sent out a text alert to members in the East Hants area in relation to two males police were looking for in relation to a burglary in the Shalden area. The latest update is that the two males were arrested in the area within an hour of the report by a Police dog handler, assisted by the local targeted patrol officers. Enquiries are on going in relation to burglary offences within Hampshire and other surrounding forces.


Three males are due to appear at Leeds Magistrates court for two counts of fraud by false representation and two counts of money laundering after an investigation by West Yorkshire Police, assisted by a local safer neighbourhood officer at Alresford, into an internet fraud involving heating oil.


A mini Digger stolen from the Swanmore area in Hampshire this month, has been recovered in the Surrey Police area and returned to the owner. Enquires are ongoing.

17/10/12: 2240hrs: White Vauxhall Combo van YJ02RSG: Farleigh Wallop area: Vehicle seen parked up near to farm land in an isolated area, possible poaching activity.

18/10/12: 1723hrs: Red Daihatsu Fourtrak K637CAV: Overton area: Vehicle seen on the Harrow Way with Lurcher type dogs on board.

19/10/12: 1005hrs: White VW panel van CE09UJU: Tadley area: seen parked up with the engine running on several occasions in a rural residential area, one male occupant.

20/10/12: 1821hrs: Silver Toyota, Similar to V245JMO: Mapledurwell area: Vehicle seen in the location of post box which was subsequently found damaged.

20/10/12: 1711hrs: Small white Citroen box van, No registration known: Laverstoke area: seen in area of farm land, possibly poaching.

23/10/12: 1640hrs: Blue Nissan Vanette V269EFH: Bradley and Brown Candover area: Vehicle seen acting suspiciously on two farm yards, one male occupant asking about 'lamping', possible poaching activity.

18/10/12: 1250hrs: White Ford Transit, no registration number known: Bentworth area: One male occupant offering tiles for sale and paying interest to old bricks at a premises.

18/10/12: 1249hrs: Maroon Vauxhall Monterey N840UDP: Medstead area: seen with two male occupants on farm land by the land owner.

20/10/12: 1845hrs: White van NL56XTQ: Liss area: Vehicle believed to be involved in fly tipping.

23/10/12: 1800hrs: White Mazda 4x4 SEZ2374: Holybourne area: males on board with Lurcher type dogs, suspected of poaching activity.

20/10/12: 1412hrs: Silver Landrover Discovery EX04BPF: Crondall area: vehicle seen in suspicious circumstances, hanging around the driveway of a residential property.

23/10/12: 1740hrs: Mitsubishi L200 X656NKO: South Warnborough area: vehicle seen acting suspiciously in a rural location.

23/10/12: 1830hrs: Silver Volvo V40 X251DTH: Yateley area: Vehicle seen acting suspiciously near to a locked metal container believed to contain building equipment.

19/10/12: 2245hrs: Green Landrover Discovery P328GAV: Weyhill area: Vehicle seen acting suspiciously in an area where catalytic converters have previously been stolen.

 Cross border Police operation

 This week Hampshire Country Watch officers took part in a cross border rural crime operation with Thames Valley Police. Stopping and checking vehicles in the border area to tackle offenders who travel between counties committing offences.


 Cesar Datatag marking days

 Cesar Datatag is a security marking system for farming equipment that is endorsed by the NFU and is a deterrent to criminals because it makes your property easily identifiable should it be stolen.

 The fitting of the system usually costs £149 + VAT per unit, however they are offering a discounted rate of £60 per unit inclusive of VAT on the following dates and areas.
