The weather was beautiful for the Stratfield Turgis Summer 2014 village walk. This took a different format allowing for 2 shortish loops with a picnic in the middle.

The walk took us from the old center of Stratfield Turgis across the recreation ground and into the pastures of Hartley Wespall. Crossing back through Spanish Green with its many thatched cottages and through the churchyard for lunch by the river. We then headed off along the bridleway beside the river and looped through the ground of Stratfield Saye House (with permission) and back past St Mary's church. A lovely time was had by all. We were privileged to have John Goring with us, a long term resident of the area. He kept us entertained with snippets of local history. His grand parents are buried in Stratfield Turgis churchyard.
